Some kids get a ton of ear infections and may have something wrong with their ear that doesn’t let it drain properly. Kids have little ears to begin with so moisture and bacteria can get stuck in there. On the other hand, some kids don’t get any ear infections. This is simply an infection in the middle area of the ear that occurs due to bacteria. If it does happen, it can be highly irritating and itchy. You may see your child grabbing at his ears or face in an effort to fix it. It may either have physical effects that you can see, such as puss, but it might not. There may or may not be pain, depending on the type of infection it is. The infection usually lasts 7-10 days, and then passes on its own. For more severe cases, an antibiotic may be prescribed by your doctor especially if the child is having fevers or not eating.
