Common Illnesses That Kids Get
7. Respiratory Issues
A child breathes for the first time on its own a few moments after birth, which is very different from breathing in the womb. This transition is pretty profound. There is a lot that can go wrong, but usually kids do just fine once they get past that initial shock. If your child does have issue later down the road, whether they have mildly occurring shortness of breath or if they have a really hard time breathing, it could be from many things. Sometimes, this could simply be nasal congestion. This is probably the most common, especially if it coincides with a head cold. Nasal drops can be given to your child to aid them in clearing the nasal passage.
If your child is getting raspy, wheezy, or very difficult breathing that happens often, you should really contact a doctor for a visit. They can listen to the lungs and run any tests to make sure it isn’t something more serious. Asthma is a pretty common problem and should really be treated as soon as possible.
