Common Illnesses That Kids Get
9. Intestinal Problems
Belly aches are pretty common. A lot of parents talk about “gas” and how it can make a child unhappy and cry. It’s true that a baby’s intestines are still maturing and getting used to eating and drink stuff. Remember, babies feel soft after they are fed, especially in the stomach. You can push gently on the abdomen frequently to get a sense of what it feels like. If they do not feel soft, and feel hard and rough instead, then this could be a sign of some intestinal issue.
Also, take a look at the poop to see if it has changed or has blood or mucous in it. It is hard at this point to tell what it is because kids can’t tell us exactly what they are feeling, so calling a doctor may be recommended. There will likely be a lot of crying. Also, if the child does not urinate for 1 or 2 days, they may be dehydrated. This could be a problem with the intestines, too. Don’t wait long to see a paediatrician.
