A warning to all bird lovers, this one is very cruel. Balut is a developing duck embryo boiled and served from its eggshell. The bird varies, but the idea is the same. Backed up with a beer, it is eaten by scooping it out of its shell.

It is commonly eaten in Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. It is a debatable dish, due to reasoning from both animal welfare and human health concerns.
